Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Your Job Mitra ("we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

The short version

You can browse every job listing on this site, in full, without an account and without giving us any personal data.
You need a free account to apply for a job through us. That account stores your name, email address, and a record of which jobs you clicked apply on.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, including recruiters and employers.
We never charge job seekers, and we never ask for payment to apply.
You can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time, and we will action it.

What we collect

If you only browse

Nothing that identifies you. You can read every listing, search, and share jobs without an account.

If you subscribe to job alerts

We collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your role interest (for example "Software & IT"). We use it to email you job openings, and nothing else.

If you create an account

We collect:

Your name and email address — so we know who you are and can contact you.
Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash (scrypt, with a unique random salt). We cannot read your password, and nobody here can tell you what it is.
If you sign in with Google: your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture URL, as provided to us by Google. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not get access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or anything else in your Google account.

Your application history

When you are signed in and click "Apply" on a listing, we record which job it was and when you clicked, linked to your account. This is what powers the applied-jobs list on your account page.

To be precise about what this is and is not: we can only see that you startedan application by leaving our site for the employer's. We have no way of knowing whether you completed their form, and we never receive a copy of your application, your resume, or anything else you submit to an employer.

Cookies

When you sign in we set a single essential cookie holding a signed session token, so you stay logged in. It is strictly necessary for the site to work and cannot be turned off while you are signed in. Logging out deletes it.

We may display advertising on this site in future. Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies. Where required, we will ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can decline without losing access to the site.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We also count how many times each listing is viewed. Those view counts are aggregate totals and are not tied to individual people.

What we deliberately do not collect

We do not ask for your phone number, date of birth, government ID numbers (Aadhaar, PAN, passport), caste or category, photographs, or any payment details. We do not currently accept resume uploads. If a page on this site ever asks you for any of these, it is not us — please report it to us immediately.

Why we use your data

To give you an account — authenticating you and keeping you signed in.
To show you your application history — the applied-jobs list is the main reason an account exists.
To send you job alerts, if you asked for them.
To operate and secure the website, including preventing abuse.
To understand what's useful — aggregate view and apply counts tell us which kinds of listings are worth writing more of.

We rely on your consent for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time. We process account and application data because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your profile or your application history with employers or recruiters.Applying through us is anonymous from the employer's side — they see whatever you submit on their own site, and nothing from us.

We share data only with the service providers who help us run the site — our hosting provider, our database provider, and (when we start sending email) our email delivery provider — and only to the extent needed to provide that service. If you sign in with Google, Google necessarily knows you signed in to our site. We may disclose data if required to do so by law.

When you click "Apply", you leave our website for the employer's own site. Anything you do there is governed by their privacy policy, not ours.

How long we keep it

Account data: until you delete your account, after which it is removed.
Application history: deleted along with your account.
Job alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
Aggregate, non-identifying statistics (such as total views on a listing) may be retained indefinitely, because they do not identify anyone.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it, you have the right to:

access the personal data we hold about you and know who we have shared it with;
have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected or updated;
have your data erased, including by deleting your account;
withdraw your consent to marketing at any time;
nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf, for example if you are unable to; and
raise a grievance about how we have handled your data.

Deleting your account

Email hello@yourjobmitra.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will remove your account, your application history, and any alert subscription tied to that address, and confirm once it is done. We aim to action deletion requests promptly and in any case within the timelines required by law.

We are building self-service account deletion into the site. Until it ships, the email route above is how you exercise this right, and it works.

Children

This site is for people seeking employment and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Security

We keep the personal data we hold to a deliberate minimum, which is the most effective security measure available to us. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes and are never recoverable. Session cookies are signed, HTTP-only, and sent over HTTPS in production. Data is stored with reputable providers using encryption in transit.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how we use your data, notify account holders by email.
